Campaign 2012 begins when 2010 ends - if not before. And there are hamsters all over the country who are considering tossing their little fluffbutts into the ring to see if they can get elected. Eligible voters all over the country get to decide which one of those sweet furry faces will be peering out the windows of the White House on Inauguration Day 2013. Like any of the lesser political parties, the hamsters hold a convention every presidential election year to officially nominate the candidate favored by the masses. The photo above is a scene from the first Hamster Nominating Convention held at Niagara Falls in 1996. Over six thousand hamsters attended at least one day of the meeting and most stayed around for the seed-flinging fest afterwards. But then you already knew that. Right? What you really need to know is how to take part in the election and make sure that the candidate of your choice really gets your vote. It's simple, really. The voter who opts for the hamster uses the write-in ballot option. Instead of choosing one of those two-legged furless politicians listed on the ballot, go to the write-in line and print the name of the hamster of your choice. |
It's the same for both the primary and the general election, with one exception. In some states, voters in the general (Nov. 6) election may need to include after the candidate's name Hamster. This is to designate political party. Check with your state's registrar of voters for the rules - or else just add "(hamster)" to be safe. And watch this space. The results of the primaries will be coming in starting in early 2012 with Iowa and New Hampshire. We'll post the poll results (hamster ballots only) on this site as soon as possible after the votes are counted. We wish we didn't have to say it, but we must stress that you have a right to vote for the candidate of your choice. Do not allow thugs to intimidate you at the polls. If possible, wear a little HFP campaign button or tee-shirt to the polls and scream loudly if anyone tells you that you can't vote as you please. We are counting on you not just to vote hamster in the coming election, but to help others do the same. Tell friends about HamsterForPresident.com. Spread the word! Call in to radio talk shows. Every vote we get brings us closer to victory and is also a vote taken away from the crazies! |
